Non-grounded adapters mean it can be used with both two and three prong type sockets but do not secure device from electrical surges. All devices will work normally without the ground wire because it's not a part of conducting path, however, grounding guarantees an extra security and protection for your appliances. Non-Grounded AdaptersA grounded adapter means it is suitable for use with a three-prong type of electrical sockets. So for example an adapter could have up to three types of plugs as the source and then have up to three types of plugs for the outlet. So for example this could be a UK three prong plug to a European 2 Pin plug.Multi Regional Adapters - These adapters offer multiple plug type options with multiple output options for travelling to different regions. Types of Travel AdaptersSingle Regional Adapters - These adapters offer a single adaptation from your electronic device, to you destinations electric output. The difference though is Europe operates on a 2 round prong outlet.Argentina, Morocco, Thailand, China and Egypt also use the European 2 prong power outlet. EuropeUsing the same voltage as the UK and Ireland of 230 volts with most electrical goods operating at between 220 - 240 volts. The United Kingdom and Ireland outlets require a unique 3 flat rectangular pronged plug type. Brazil, Mexico, Japan, some part of Egypt, Thailand and Peru also use this type of power adapters.UK and IrelandThe voltage for UK and Ireland is 230 volts with most electrical goods operating at between 220 - 240 volts. The plug type is two prongs with a third optional round pin. North AmericaThe voltage of North America is 120 volts, with most electrical goods operating at around 110 volts. However in Asia you can find that there is a mix of plug types being used. For example a European plug will typically be a Type C, whereas a US plug type will be a Type A. Find out more in our comprehensive travel plug adapters guide. There are many types of plugs used across the world. Power outlets have different shapes in different parts of the world, so you will need an adapter to convert the shape of your home plug types to the shape of the outlets in the region of the world you're travelling too. If the voltage or plug type differs from those within your country of residence then you will need an adapter. If you prefer to travel as light as possible, get an international adapter set, which allows you to take only the adapters you need.Travel Adapters A travel adapter has become an essential for using electronic devices when you travel. Note that these won’t always work for appliances that need to be grounded, which will require a more expensive grounding adapter. If you shop around, you can usually find one for less than $10 online ( this one also comes with a surge protector). If you travel a lot, invest in a universal travel adapter, which lets you slide out different plug formations so that you can use the adapter in outlets in any country. If you’re packing lots of devices (like a camera, smartphone, and tablet), you should invest in multiple adapters so that you can charge all of your electronics at once. Most are small and lightweight, making them easy to pack. An adapter will allow you only to plug your appliance into another type of outlet. If you see something like “INPUT AC 120/240 V 50-60 Hz 1300 W,” then your device is dual-voltage, and you can safely use it for voltages anywhere between 120 V and 240 V. If you want to use it elsewhere, you’ll need a converter. How do you know if your device is dual-voltage? Check the label and/or owner’s manual: If it says something similar to “INPUT AC 120 VAC 60 Hz 200 W,” then your gadget is single-voltage and can only be used on 120 V. Most smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets are dual-voltage, and if you use a converter on something that is already dual-voltage, you can damage your device. The vast majority of modern travel gadets are dual-voltage, meaning they automatically convert to run on other voltage systems. For a complete list of voltage requirements by country, visit .īefore you run out and buy a voltage converter, there’s a very important piece of information you need to know. While Japan, most of North America, and parts of South America and the Caribbean use voltage between 100 and 125, the vast majority of the world uses 220 to 240 volts. Most American-made electrical appliances work at 110 volts. I don’t know who I am, but I’m clearly here to test a program and learn something in the process. You see, I’m in a therapy session conducted via dreams. It’s not about what’s real, it’s about what looks real. Portraits, seen in the right way, can become doorways to another environment. I can pick it up as if it were a physical object, and now it’s in my hands. If I stand just right, the block looks real. Later, I find an orange block painted on the walls. This is the key mechanic of Superliminal. However, when I turn and place the soda at the end of the hall, I’ve played a clever trick I can now walk towards the soda can to find its grown to a massive size. When I hold the soda in my hands, it’s quite small. I stand in the hallway of a quiet medical facility, and grab a can of soda from a vending machine. Clicking the ‘+’ icon will bring up the Steam Workshop overlay, where you can browse through the custom levels that other players have uploaded, and subscribe to any of them.Superliminal is a puzzle game in which perception is reality. Lastly, you can import other player’s levels using the Workshop board. To do this, select ‘Play Dream’ from the Pause menu (or select the Play Dream sign near the play space) and successfully finish playing (reach the End elevator). You can also upload your level to the Steam Workshop with the Upload button, but you will need to finish a run on the level first, so you don’t upload broken levels. You can also title your level (you should always do that), give it a description, save your level, choose other levels from your personal collection, or start a new level. You can set challenge values for your level, including number of jumps, number of grabs, and a time limit. The Office area lets you customize various properties of your level, as well as managing other levels. When you stand on a button or place an object on it, it will open any door with the same tag. Gravity: Here, you can choose, normal, off, or inverted. When false, the object will hang in the air. In this menu, you can edit properties of the object. The Context menu can be brought up by right-clicking any of the objects. We’ve included nearly every track from the game, as well as some new music, for a total of over 30 tracks. There’s also a music selector, which lets you choose a track which will play in your level. Note: you can add as many custom whiteboards as you like! There are buttons that link up to doors, the level start and end flags, barrier doorways, a fan, and a whiteboard for writing your own custom messages. This next area has various useful objects for building your level. Any custom models you use in making a level, which are present on the playspace, will also be included with the level when you upload it. These shelves contain any models you have imported or subscribed to in the Workshop. You’ll also notice next to the table are some shelves. These are various interactable pieces for use in puzzles. In the next section are grabbable objects. Next to the walls are some decorations to pretty up your levels. In the right-click context menu (which we will cover later), you can change the theme of the pieces to resemble the levels in the main game. These are the basic building blocks of your level. In this first section of the object area, there are various wall pieces and a floor piece. For information on how to import your own 3D models into the game, please read this previous article. You can import your own custom objects for use in custom levels, but we also have a set of pre-made objects for you to use. I have always been able to get hardware and software to do what they were advertised to do. A Sugart floppy drive was around $400.00 and held 180 KB. I started out in the mid 70s whan Personal Computers were large, expensive, and saved to cassette tapes. Is anyone aware of any device that can stream video reliably from a MBL running twonky to any DLNA compliant Device? I have no doubt that I can run the registerred Twonky server on the Media Center PC, and let it run 24/7 and get closer to what I was hoping for, but really would like to see the MBL do what it was advertised to. The Satellite receiver has a 1TB drive attached to it also. It almost works as well as the twonky server on my android phone. I can attach a drive to the Netgear Gateway, and make my own NAS that is DLNA compliant, but then I have this other 1TB MBL paperweight. I also have a Media Center PC connected to the Bravia, and it works flawlessly, whenever it doesn’t hide the mouse pointer. Short of taking a chance and purchasing showbiz and tossing another hundred dollar bil in this hole, doe anyone know of any piece of softwear available to the consumer that will make the Twonky Server (updated) play on Sony Devices? I have ASF, AVI, FLV, MPEG2, MP4, WMV… none work.īut, I had some videos that I had converted using an old Ads Showbiz 2 application that came on a PC I bought in 2005 that play perfectly. Still no luck on the Bravia or Blue Ray player and Video files. I have now upgraded my system to include a Netgear DLNA compliant gateway, DLNA Compliant Sony Bravia TV, Sony 570 BluRay Disc player. I have sucessfully upgraded to 6.0.32 and applied the license Key for the Twonky server suite that I mistakenly bought for the PC, trying to get the features on the My Book Live to work before I found about about it’s incompatibility issues with the DLNA standard I have just started back on this project, after a long vacation from it. I know that sounds like several steps, but you’ll become pretty quick with it once you start using custom layouts (for hiding other scopes) and understand the behavior of selecting the top bar of the clip list window. Finally, make sure that you’ve enabled source recording for your selected source. Enable your recording options including choosing what tracks you want to record, recording alerts and your transcoding options.ĥ. This one is confusing, just watch the video Insight at the end of this article and it’ll be 100% clear to you.Ĥ. Here’s the big one – you must select the top bar of the clip list window ( cmd + } ) when you do if you’re in the palette settings area ( cmd + \ ) – you’ll see options for recording. If you’re using a movie file or a ScopeLink source you can’t make a recording.ģ. You can only make recordings from live sources like an I/O device or a camera. Hide scopes/pallets if you’re on an underpowered system – in my experience, this helps prevent against dropped frames, etc.Ģ. The first thing that strikes me about using ScopeBox as a recorder is that if you didn’t read the manual – it would probably take a you a little while to figure out how to set up a recording! But I think you can boil it down to a few steps.ġ. Scope Box as a Recorder – Essential Steps In my facility there is a little more “routing” going on with a patch panel but this gives a pretty good idea of the signal path. The graphic below shows you how I have things (in a general sense) wired up: In the past 2 weeks, I’ve been using ScopeBox as a digital recorder, and it’s worked out really well. I was starting to panic when my buddy Joey D’Anna reminded me of the recording functionality of ScopeBox. I’ve been in touch with BlackMagic and they’re taking care of me, but I still have shows to get out the door! The update bricked the HyperDeck Pro, making it useless – I’ve lost serial control, I can’t record anything (regardless of SSD) without dropping frames and the unit frequently power cycles itself. Recently, I saw that a firmware update was available for the HyperDeck and performed the update. Resolve/NLE > Legalizer > (Terranex Standards Conversion if Needed) > Hyper Deck Studio Pro For the past year or two, I’ve fed this device from the output of the DL-860 to record the legalized content. Ultimately, for cost and feature reasons I settled on a HyperDeck Studio Pro. Over the years I’ve tried quite a few recorders out there from AJA, Blackmagic, CineDeck and others. That’s where the digital recorder comes in. Unfortunately, there is no way with the DL-860 to record the files we feed it. We must pipe video into it as SDI – but how the heck do we record the final legalized video from the SDI output of the DL-860? Back in Insight 150 we took a look at using the trusty Harris DL-860 to do just this. The reason I can’t just export from my color grading app is that I need to take advantage of outboard hardware legalization. So, that workflow sounds simple enough and you’re probably thinking – “you just export from Resolve or an NLE right?” Well… not quite. Instead, I’m delivering ProRes and DNxHD files either as QuickTime or in the case of DNxHD as MXF wrapped files. While that can mean a few things – like on LTO tape, SSD or as an upload – I’m not doing nearly as many tape laybacks as I once did. I haven’t recorded with my trusty Sony 5500 HDCAM SR deck in a few months.Īlmost all of the projects I work on – both broadcast and non-broadcast – are being delivered digitally. ScopeBox as A Hardware Legalizer? Sort of. While I always knew about this functionality, it wasn’t until a recent hardware failure that I put it to the test, and I’m glad I did. In this Insight, I want to share with you another way of using ScopeBox – as a digital recorder. In a world of high-cost hardware scopes and rasterizers, ScopeBox is an amazingly flexible and powerful tool.įactor in some specialized scope options like HML Balance, Channel Plots, a great implementation of Alexis Van Hurkman’s Hue Vectors Graticule for the Vectorscope, and ScopeLink for integrating with Adobe Creative Cloud and Final Cut Pro X, there is no doubt that if you have a Mac and an extra $99 USD, ScopeBox is a no brainer purchase.
